How To Make Money From Blogging:Find Niche

Bookmark and Share
If you want to make money from
your blogging, you need to select
the right niche for you. What is the
right niche for you? It is the one
that you have the best chance of
putting up a high quality, content
rich blog in a niche where money
is being spent. That may seem
simple to you, or it may be
complex. It depends on where you
are at in your on line marketing
skills development. I will give you
some top tips for picking the right
niche for your first blog:
1. Pick a niche you know
something about -- You are going
to have to do some content
generation for your blog. Even if
you are going to outsource your
content, you will still need to
provide decent guidance to your
writers. You will struggle getting a
blog off the ground if you know
nothing at all about it. Your blog is
going to have to have interesting,
unique, high quality content to
make you a lot of money. You will
have a hard time doing this if you
pick a niche just because you think
you can monetize it well.
2. Pick a topic that have interest in
-- If you do not have any interest
in the topic at all, you will
probably struggle getting the blog
going. You will also have a much
higher tendency to give up on your
blog before it even gets going well.
If you have some interest in the
topic, you can do research and
find other people to contribute to
your blog much easier. It is very
important to get the right niche on
your first blog, as it will be the
hardest one for you to get rolling
on.
3. Stay away from topics that have
no interest in -- If you have no
interest in a topic, or are even
repulsed by the niche, stay away
from it. It does not matter how
much money is being made in the
niche. If you dislike or are
indifferent to the topic, you are
probably not going to put up a
very good blog on this topic. I have
seen a number of people go down
this path, and it always leads to
failure. Do not pick your niche just
because it is a big money maker.
You will most likely quit on a blog
in this niche well before you ever
make a dime from it.
4. Make sure it is a "Money Niche"
-- You want to make certain that
money is being spent in this niche.
You can check Google AdWords for
the particular keyword phrase you
are thinking about. If there are no
paid listings on the results page for
this keyword, this is a very bad
sign. You can also check out a
magazine rack for ideas of money
niches. If there are a number of
magazines serving a particular
niche, it is a safe bet that it is a
good money niche. It is vitally
important that you make sure you
are working in a money niche. If
money is not being spent in your
niche, you will not make any
money not matter how good your
blog is.
5. Pick a niche you will still be
focused on in 12 months -- If you
are going to have a blog that is
going to make you a nice income,
you will still be working on it a
year from now. It is a good
exercise early on in the process to
do a "gut check" and make an
assessment of the likelihood of
you still working this blog a year
from now. If you can come up with
a resounding "yes", you are in the
right niche for you at this time. If
the answer is no, you are in the
wrong niche. If the answer is
maybe, I would recommend
looking for a better niche at this
time
